A rare Philippe Jean brushed brass finish and black Lucite table or desk lamp signed “Ph Jean” in the black Lucite. The condition is very good all-over with only several tiny dark spots on the shade. The black Lucite is in very good condition with no scratches or damage. The upper part of the stand can be rotated.

Jean Philippe was a renowned French sculptor and designer who studied at École des Beaux-Arts in Versailles and the sculpture workshop of École Boule in Paris. After graduating from school, in the years 1952-1953, Philippe Jean obtained a place at Carlhian, one of the great Parisian decorators of the time. He then started creating packaging and traded in antiques. He finally devoted himself to design and sculpture from the 1970s. He did not produce a lot of furniture pieces as he was predominately a sculptor, so any pieces that are available are rare and highly sought after.
